Bello hits critics of OFW ID cards with Duterte’s photo

04:37 AM December 16, 2017

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III lambasted the critics, particularly the Catholic Church, of the identification  (ID) cards  issued for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

Bello said some sectors just wanted to mar the Department of Labor and Employment’s OFW ID card, adding that he did not receive any negative reaction from OFWs about the ID card.

He singled out in particular the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines, after one of its prelates questioned President Duterte’s photo on the ID card.

Balanga Bishop Ruperto Santos questioned the placing of Duterte’s photo, noting that it might lead to questions of “epal” or shameless self-promotion and politicking. —JULIE M. AURELIO
