Over the next nine days, commuters of Light Rail Transit 1 (LRT 1) will be in for a number of Christmas treats that will not only ease their daily commute but also remind them of what the season is all about.
Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPIC) on Friday launched the “Biyaheng Pasko” train, a coach bedecked with designs showcasing Filipino traditions that are meant to ground passengers to the true meaning of Christmas.
“We want to get Filipino commuters of the LRT 1 in a holiday mood,” said Melody del Rosario, MPIC’s vice president for corporate communications.
‘Cherished values’
“At the same time, we want to give them a feeling of the cherished values which we at MPIC hold dearly … such as ‘Simbang Gabi,’ ‘noche buena,’ respect for elders and other traditions,” she added.
The Christmas train is the second of such kind to ply the LRT 1 route between Baclaran in Parañaque City and Roosevelt Avenue in Quezon City. Earlier this month, Light Rail Manila Corp., of which MPIC is a part, launched the “Pasko Para Sa Mga Batang Pilipino” train.
Starting Saturday till Christmas Day, the Christmas train will be boarded by singers to serenade passengers, Del Rosario said.
