‘Urduja’ triggers flood in Capiz farmlands

ILOILO CITY – Heavy rains brought by Tropical Storm “Urduja” triggered flooding in farmlands in Capiz on Thursday.

Thirty-seven barangays were affected by flooding with 21 still underwater as of 5 p.m. Thursday, according to a report of the Capiz Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).

The villages with flooded rice fields included 10 in Panitan town, seven in Sigma town and four in Panay town.

The flooded villages in Panitan include, Ambilay, Calaan Grande, Pasugue, Balatucan, Cadio, Intampilan, Bahit, Agbabadiang, Cabugao and Cabangahan

In Sigma, the flooded villages included Amaga, Acbo, Bangonbangon, Cogon, Mangoso, Dayhagon and Capuyhan.

The four remaining flooded villages in Panay town were Magubilan, Daga, Candual and Binangig, according to the PDRRMO report.

Capiz is among the areas placed under Storm Signal No. 1 by the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
