MARAWI CITY—Honeylet Avanceṅa and former president now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on Wednesday distributed cash gifts of P3,000 and relief goods to 2000 women evacuees here.

Col. Romeo Brawner Jr., deputy commander of Joint Task Force Ranao, said each of the women received P3,000 cash aside from relief goods at the Lanao del Sur provincial capitol gymnasium, where the distribution took place.

He said that aside from Arroyo and Avanceṅa, other congressional spouses and other women organizations from Manila, contributed to the donation.

Brawner said the women who got the assistance were “severely” affected by the recent war that raged on for five months between the government and the Islamic State-inspired terror group which took over a section of the city for five months starting May this year.

He said the cash aid and the relief distribution was coursed through the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Region 12.
