Classes suspended in Eastern Visayas due to ‘Urduja’

TACLOBAN CITY—Classes were suspended in all levels in Eastern Visayas in anticipation of the landfall of tropical storm “Urduja” in Samar on Thursday.

Local officials of Leyte, Southern Leyte, Samar, Northern Samar, Samar, Eastern Samar and Biliran also alerted local disaster teams for possible Ram page of Urduja.

Northern Samar Governor Jose Ong placed the entire province under “blue alert” which means all government line agencies should be ready for any eventuality that may arise due to Urduja, said Rei Josiah Escano, provincial disaster risk reduction, and management officer.

“We are also monitoring areas considered flood-prone. But so far, there was no report on flooding in the province,” said Levi Nicart of the provincial disaster risk reduction and management office of Eastern Samar.#
