Worker killed, 2 hurt in road accident in Puerto Galera

CITY OF CALAPAN – A construction worker was killed and two others were hurt in a road accident in Puerto Galera town in Oriental Mindoro province before dawn Wednesday.

Police said Archangel Manongsong, 21, a student, was driving his motorcycle along the national road going to the town center when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a concrete wall in Barangay San Isidro at about 2 a.m.

Manongsong and his passengers Renato Ilagan Jr., 26, and Ariel Datinggaling, 25, both construction workers and residents of Sitio (sub-village) Ponderosa in Barangay San Isidro, were brought to Puerto Galera Hospital but Ilagan died along the way due to head injury.

Manongsong and Datinggaling sustained lacerations on their heads and abrasions on the different parts of their body.

Dr. Romeo Dela Vega Jr. said all the victims tested positive for alcohol use. /cbb
