SAN PEDRO CITY — A woman and her seven-year-old daughter were found dead inside their house in General Trias City in Cavite province, police said Tuesday.

The victims were identified as Ruby Gamos, 34, and her daughter Shaniah Nicole.

The head of the family who is a seaman was abroad. He reportedly arrived in the country Tuesday morning.

Supt. Sandro Tafalla, General Trias police chief, said investigators were following up the case which they initially believed was a robbery.

Tafalla said the incident was reported to the police Monday afternoon, after Gamos’ sister-in-law, Karen Bongalos, discovered the victims’ bodies inside their house in Kensington subdivision in Barangay (village) Navarro.

He said Bongalos sought the help of subdivision guards in entering the house after failing to hear from Gamos and Shaniah since December 8.

“The victims could have been dead from three to four days,” Tafalla said in a phone interview, citing the initial investigation.

He said the victims’ phone, jewelry and car, a red Toyota Wigo, were missing. Investigators did not find any sign of forced entry, Tafalla said.

Forensics also did not find any open wounds on the victims, suggesting a possibility that they were strangled, he added. /cbb
