MANILA, Philippines—A toilet in a building in Ermita, Manila that clogged for more than six hours Wednesday yielded a yet another gruesome discovery—a male fetus.

SPO1 Charles John Duran of the Manila Police District Homicide section said Janitor Aryel Payra, 44, made the grim find at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday as he worked to unclog the toilet that was reported broken at around 10 a.m.

It was the fetus—believed to be around three to five months old—that was apparently clogging the drain at the second-floor ladies’ restroom of Merchant Building at the corner of Faura and Mabini streets.

When the clog was reported to him, Payra initially tried pumping the toilet to no avail. He then went off to look for a chisel and hammer to detach the toilet bowl altogether which led him to find the fetus.

Ermita police said the fetus, which bore bruises on its body, has been turned over to the Yvan Funeral Homes.
