Two foreign human rights activists were barred from seeing detained Sen. Leila de Lima on Sunday, as the world was observing International Human Rights Day.

For the fourth time, the Philippine National Police refused to allow foreign visitors to see De Lima, who has been detained on drug charges in Camp Crame, Quezon City, since February.

Ferdie Maglalang, chief media officer of De Lima, said that the visit was barred despite the compliance of the senator’s office with the PNP’s requirement for a 10-day notice.

Maglalang said that the request for the visit was submitted to the PNP on Nov. 5.

De Lima informed the PNP that her visitors were Rosslyn Joy Noonan of New Zealand and Philippa Erica Dargan of Sydney, Australia.
