CIDG nabs fake Marcos son for fraud, guns

CLARK FREEPORT—A man claiming to be a son of the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos was arrested on December 8 by the police’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group at a villa inside the former Fontana Leisure Park here.

Edilberto del Carmen, who transacts business using the name Angel Ferdinand Marcos, was arrested at 8:30 a.m. during a search covered by a warrant issued by Judge Ana Marie Joson-Viterbo of the Regional Trial Court Branch 24, according to Chief Insp. Rommel Labalan, CIDG Pampanga chief.

Labalan’s team seized three cal. 5.56mm rifles, five MK2 hand grenades, one cal. 9mm submachine gun, one PCM 1911 cal. 22 pistol and assorted pieces of magazine and ammunitions, Labalan said in a telephone interview.

He said Del Carmen was the suspected leader of the Del Carmen Criminal Group “involved in fraud scam and illegal possession of firearms.”
