The House of Representatives and Senate finally agreed on contentious provisions of the comprehensive tax reform measure, inching closer to passing the bill.
Senator Sonny Angara, chairman of the Senate ways and means committee, said both chambers of the Congress had agreed on at least 75 issues on the much-debated Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) bill.
Angara posted a photo on Instagram of some of the members of the bicameral committee and Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III during their meeting on Wednesday.
His photo was accompanied by the caption: “The bicameral conference composed of the House and Senate has agreed on at least 75 issues/provisions of the Train bill on tax reform.”
“After hours of debates and exchanges of data and statistics from both Senate and House as well as the Dept. of Finance, it seems that we are close to concluding this landmark measure.”
Earlier, Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon made a forecast, saying that the Congress might ratify the tax reform package bill on Monday, Dec. 11, before adjourning the session. /cbb
