A 62-year-old businessman was arrested and would face charges for shooting at his live-in partner and illegally keeping several firearms and a grenade at their Quezon City residence.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) identified the suspect as Emmanuel Villa Delgado, a resident of Desiderio Street in Don Jose Subdivision, Barangay Commonwealth.
Delgado was arrested by members of QCPD Batasan station around 11 p.m. Monday at their home.
A report to Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, QCPD director, said the suspect was drunk when he had a quarrel with his partner Abigail Torevillas allegedly due to jealousy.
Torevillas sought help from the police after Delgado, who had drawn a .45-caliber pistol, fired at her.
Responding officers accosted Delgado, who failed to present a permit for the pistol.
With the help of Torrevillas, the police later found eight other unlicensed firearms, a hand grenade, and over 130 rounds of ammunition in the house.
The recovered weapons were turned over to the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory for ballistics tests and verification.
Delgado was charged on Tuesday with attempted homicide, violation of the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act, and illegal possession of firearms, ammunition and explosives. /kga
