Today, Dec. 5, is the 25th death anniversary of National Artist for Music Felipe Padilla de Leon.
Born on May 1, 1912, De Leon was a respected and multiawarded composer, conductor and scholar.
He was a recipient of many awards, including the Republic Cultural Heritage Award, Doctor of Humanities from the University of the Philippines and Presidential Award of Merit.
He died in 1992 and was named a National Artist in 1997. —Marielle Medina
