Hollywood action star Steven Seagal on Friday said he believed there is a formula that could help solve various threats confronting Filipinos.
Speaking before troops in Barangay Busbus in Jolo, Sulu, Seagal, who accompanied President Rodrigo Duterte, acknowledged the “commitment” of soldiers to solve these problems “to make the Philippines safe.”
“We have problems—kidnapping, narco-trafficking, organ trafficking and terrorism. These are the big things we’re faced with in the Philippines. I know that you guys put your lives on the line every day,” he said.
Seagal said the formula he believed exists “can help the Armed Forces, the police, the intelligence network” to combat these problems “very very well.” He did not say what exactly the formula was.
“I am looking forward to discussing these things with President Duterte at a later time. I do believe all of these are winnable,” he said.
Seagal said that as in other wars, the problems confronting Filipinos would be defeated.
“I think the main thing that we keep in our mind and heart is we don’t win this battle today, we don’t win this battle tomorrow. This is a fight that’s gonna be a long long fight. But the idea is to annihilate the enemy through attrition,” he added.
Seagal said Filipinos should accept that the problems would not be over in a short a time.
“It’s gonna be a long battle but slowly, day by day, week by week, month by month, year by year, the enemy will get smaller and smaller and finally they will be gone to the point where it is absolutely and positively controllable,” he said.
Seagal said it was the strategy that he “believed is the way” for Filipinos to step forward.
He also offered his help in tackling the problems that confronted the country.
“I hope I can be involved with all of you in this war, against all of these evil things,” he added./lzb
