Almost 2,000 protesters stage rallies vs RevGov in Bacolod

BACOLOD CITY—Close to 2,000 protestors held separate rallies in Bacolod City in Negros Occidental on Thursday afternoon to slam, among others, the push of President Rodrigo Duterte’s supporters to establish a revolutionary government that they said would lead to a dictatorship.

At least 1,000 members of the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) held a rally at the middle of Araneta Street, while about 400 from the Partido ng Mangagawa were at the Welcome Rotunda outside the Bacolod public plaza. At least 500 from the Bukluran ng Mangagawang Pilipino stayed in front of the Fountain of Justice on Araneta Street.

While the rallies were ongoing, at least 3,000 supporters of President Duterte joined the launching of revolutionary-federal campaign or RevGov in Western Visayas at the Bacolod Pavillon Hotel, less than a kilometer away

Headed by Ricardo Noble Sr., the RevGov-6 is supporting the move of the President for a federal form of government.
