MANILA, Philippines — A shuttle bus caught fire along the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) in San Pedro, Laguna early morning on Wednesday but no one was hurt.
SLEX traffic control operator Christy Lleno said that the T Shuttle bus may have been on its way to pick up passengers when the vehicle caught fire at around 5:57 a.m. Initial investigation indicated that faulty wiring of the alternator of the bus caused the fire, she said.
Only the driver was inside the bus during the accident but was uninjured, she said.
Firefighters from the San Pedro Fire Department were able to put out the fire but the vehicle was “totally burned,” Lleno said.
She added that traffic buildup was monitored up to 500 meters from the scene of the accident on the two lanes which remained open to motorists. Lanes 1 and 2 were closed while responding officers towed away the shuttle bus, said Lleno.
All four lanes have been passable as of 7:35 a.m., Lleno added.
