According to the Department of Health, Metro Manila accounted for 23.3 percent or 353 of the 1,515 leptospirosis cases reported nationwide from Jan. 1 to Sept. 30 this year.
The region had the highest number of cases during the period, followed by Western Visayas with 13.1 percent or 198 cases and Ilocos region with 10.7 percent or 162 cases. —Marielle Medina
