House exec wants PDEA, PNP coleaders in drug war
UNISAN, Quezon — House Minority Leader Danilo Suarez said the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) should not be cast aside in the drug war amid reports that the Philippine National Police would again take the lead in the battle against illegal drug syndicates.
“PDEA is rich in information. The drug war strategy should be a combination of both — information and action,” said Suarez, who represents the third congressional district of Quezon province.
He said PDEA and the PNP should both lead the campaign.
Suarez said PDEA’s presence in the campaign would help guard against unscrupulous policemen.
“Why give the sole task to a team that is being suspected of being in cahoots with drug lords? PDEA will be there [for] check and balance,” he said. —Delfin T. Mallari Jr.
