‘Short-time’ couple tagged in hotel thefts arrested

A couple were arrested in Pasay City after they allegedly tried to steal a TV set from the hotel room they had checked in.

Christopher Rae Cabuhat, 32, and Jane Christine Belicario, 30, were caught in the act on Monday afternoon by the security personnel of Sogo hotel at Pasay Rotonda, where they booked two different rooms for three hours.

At 5:40 p.m., Belicario went out of Room 310 carrying a pink trolley bag, which was found containing the room’s 24-inch flatscreen TV when checked by security.

Cabuhat, who had supposedly booked Room 520, was instead found staying inside Belicario’s room.

The two were also caught carrying a hammer, two wrenches, three screwdrivers, assorted nuts and bolts, and several IDs bearing different names and addresses.

SPO3 Genomar Gerladino, the investigator on the case, said a background check showed that the couple were also the suspects in earlier thefts in at least four Sogo branches in Pasay, Manila, Makati and Cavite. —Dexter Cabalza
