PDEA preparing case vs Pakistani member of drug group with jihadist link

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) is readying a case for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act (Republic Act 9165) against a suspected member of the El Patron Drug Group, which has links the jihadist group Anzhar Al-Khilafa Philippines (AKP).

The suspect was identified as Shahzad Khan also known as Salman Khan, a 35-year-old Pakistani. He was arrested in Barangay San Isidro in General Santos City around midnight Monday.

Authorities confiscated one gray ledger containing bank deposit slips, money trails and other documents.

The El Patron Drug Group operates in South Central Mindanao and reportedly receiving protection from AKP, a group that had reportedly pledged allegiance to the Islamic State. /atm
