More than 70,000 takers passed the September 2017 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET), the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced on Monday afternoon.
The PRC said that out of the 70,824 passers, 49,626 are secondary teachers and 21,198 are elementary teachers.
Of the elementary level passers, 19,581 are first timers and 1,617 are repeaters.
For the secondary teachers, 41,180 passers are first timers, while 8,446 are repeaters, the PRC added.
According to PRC, a total of 80,509 took the exam for elementary level and 107,020 for secondary.

Meanwhile, the University of Santo Tomas was hailed as the top-performing university for elementary LET, with a 93.81 percent passing rate.
It was followed by the Polytechnic University of the Philippines Sta. Mesa and the Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology, with 93.51 and 92.00 percent passing rates, respectively.
For the secondary level, the University of the Philippines Los Baños ranked one, with 98.33 percent passing rate, followed by UST and Philippine Normal University with 94.74 and 94.44 respective passing rates.

Mary Clarence Madero of West Visayas State University La Paz ranked first at the elementary level of the LET, with 88.8 rating: TOP 10 PASSERS ELEMENTARY: September 2017 LET Teachers Board Exam Topnotchers.
