The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has revoked the driver’s license of Maria Isabel Lopez following her unauthorized use of the lane designated for delegates of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) early this month.
Lopez was also barred from reapplying and reacquiring a driver’s license for the next two years, according to MMDA assistant general manager for planning Jojo Garcia.
The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) recommended to the LTO the revocation of Lopez’s license after she used the Asean lane on the night of November 11 to escape the traffic jam that gripped Edsa with the closure of two lanes dedicated for the summit’s delegates.
On top of the revocation of her license, Lopez was also made to pay a total fine of P8,000. Garcia said that P5,000 of which was for violating the anti-distracted driving law, while P3,000 was for her reckless driving and disregarding of traffic signs. /kga
