Senior citizens in Taguig City will now receive higher birthday cash gifts, the city’s Public Information Office (PIO) said Friday.
This after the local council approved Ordinance No. 25 series of 2017, which approves the increase in birthday cash gifts of senior citizen residents of Taguig, the PIO said in a statement.
From the mandated P1,000 monetary gift, the city’s senior citizens will receive the following: P3,000 for those aged 60 to 69; P4,000 for those aged 70 to 79; and P5,000 for 80 years old and above.
In explaining the increase, Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano said that she wanted “our second parents to feel that they are part of a city government which includes them as one of its priorities since we understand the medical needs and expenses that come with old age.”
To be eligible for the cash gift, senior citizens should be residing in Taguig City for at least five years and should be registered voters of the city, the PIO said.
To claim the gift, the elderly resident should present his or her Senior Citizen ID card, which can be processed at the Office for Senior Citizen Affairs (OSCA) located in the city hall, and a signed photocopy of the said ID, it explained.
Representatives tasked to claim the gift should present an authorization letter, the senior citizen card of the beneficiary and a photocopy of the representative’s valid ID. /jpv
