Caloocan fire injures 7
Seven people, including two children, were injured in a fire that broke out in a residential building in Caloocan City on Thursday afternoon.
The fire started around 2:30 p.m. on a second-floor unit of the building on 4th Street, Barangay Grace Park, and raged for more than two hours before it was declared out.
FO3 Alwin Culianan, Bureau of Fire Protection arson investigator, said the injured occupied four of the building’s seven units.
They included the couple Editha and Marcelino Mendoza, who occupied the unit where the fire apparently started. Also among them was an 8-year-old boy and a 1-year-old girl, the latter suffering blisters on the foot and buttocks.
The boy’s mother Jean Sotto and 45-year-old Betty Tumagara also suffered burns in the chest and foot. The cause of the fire was not immediately known and damage was estimated at half-a-million pesos.
