/ 06:12 AM November 24, 2017

The Makati city government has started the distribution of the year-end cash gift for senior citizens who are Blu Card holders.

In a report to Mayor Abby Binay, the Makati Social Welfare Department (MSWD) said over 79,000 qualified beneficiaries will receive their cash gift starting Nov. 23 to Dec. 11.

Blu Card holders will receive their gift corresponding to their age categories as follows: Beneficiaries 60-69 years old will receive P1,500; 70-79 years old, P2,000; and 80-89 years old, P2,500. For 2017, the city allocated P326.2 million for the cash gift to seniors and centenarians. The gift is given in two equal installments every June and December.

The distribution will follow a schedule and be coursed through designated venues per barangay, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to MSWD officer in charge Ryan Barcelo.

Beneficiaries or designated representatives who will not be able to claim their cash gift on the scheduled date will be given four working days to claim it at Makati City Hall Building II.
