Taxi driver robbed in Mandau City

A 40-YEAR-old taxi driver reported to the police that he was robbed by three persons who posed as passengers in barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City, last Monday evening.

Franco Alesna, driver of Sircon taxi, said he lost P4,800 in earnings in the robbery.

Alesna of barangay Cabancalan, Mandaue, said two men and a woman flagged him down outside a Cebu City mall. The passengers asked to be brought to Lapu-Lapu City.

The driver said that while they were traveling along Ouano Avenue, the passenger who sat beside him poked a gun at him and declared a holdup.

The driver said he resisted but the robber hit him with the gun that forced him to hand his earnings.

The robbers got off and fled on two motorcycles driven by their cohorts.

Alesna said he noticed the two motorcycles tailing the taxi while they were on their way to Lapu-Lapu.

At the office of the Investigation and Detection Management Branch, Alesna identified one of the robbers in a photo gallery of suspected criminals

Insp. Ramil Morpos, chief of the Theft and Robbery Section of the Mandaue City Police Office, said the man who was identified by the driver was previously jailed.
