President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday doused speculations that he would declare a revolutionary government (RevGov) in the country, telling wounded soldiers that the nation would “get nothing from it.”
Speaking at the Army General Hospital in Fort Bonifacio, the President told soldiers wounded in Marawi, and in clashes with the New People’s Army and the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters that they “should not believe” in coup d’etat or revolutionary governments.
“We serve to protect the people and our country, to preserve the republic. Do not believe in coups, revolutionary [government], coups,” Mr. Duterte said.
“We won’t get anything from that. Let us build a country. I will build a strong military,” he added.
