SHS-AdC to vie in Milo Best national final

AFTER SUFFERING an emotional title loss in the juniors division in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. basketball tournament, the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles try to get back on their horse as they compete in the national finals of the 2011 Milo-backed BEST Tournament this weekend at the Xavier School in San Juan City.

The Eagles were on the cusp of capturing the title in the deciding game 5 of the series against the University of the Visayas  but suddenly imploded in the final period, where they wasted away a 10-point lead en route to an 80-85 loss.

Still, the Eagles appear to be intent on ending this year on a high note as they defend their national crown against a packed field led by 10-time Metro Manila Tiong Lian Basketball Association champion Xavier School, Luzon qualifier Guagua National Colleges and Mindanao-champion Holy Child School.

Five players from the core group of the juniors team will be suiting up for the Eagles led by Mythical Five member, Dawn Ochea, Jair Igna, Dave Yu, Bro Catan and Miguel Competente. The rest of the team are Laeil Medalle, Jarek Mercado, Popoy Navarro, Rendell Senining, Arnie Padilla,  Kyle Cabarrubias, Gerard Mendoza, AJ Ong, Jacob Lee and Janjan Jaboneta. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
