All set for 1st Du Ek Sam Run on Dec. 4

DU Ek Sam will be staging its first ever running event dubbed Du Ek Sam Run 2011 on Dec. 4 starting at Ayala Center Cebu’s The Terraces.

The running event is held in line with the 85th birthday celebration of the company’s matriarch Melicia Uy Du.

The running event will have 3-kilometer, 5-k and 10-k categories.

Three other running events will be held on that day but organizers are optimistic they can draw around a thousand runners.

“We are offering exciting prizes including in our raffle,” said Emil Malaluan of Sharp Electronics during yesterday’s official launching at the Tabok, Mandaue branch of Du Ek Sam.

Among the prizes in the raffle is a L.E.D TV set, two LCD TVs, DVD players, and 10 coffee makers.

“This will serve as our birthday gift to our matriarch. We really want this to be special,” said Malaluan.

Joining Malaluan were Du Ek Sam’s Mercidita Rabara, Ammalou Opalla, Samsung’s Marlou Monreal Jr., Alvin Apduhan of the Universal Robina Corporation, Wenner Freje Oredina of Aquasoft Purified Drinking Water, Ever Besavilla of Smart Advertising and Jerry Malagar of Wilkris Appliances and Jimvic Dy from Samsung.

The 10k champion will take home P5,000 while 5k first placers will win P3,000. Winners in the 3k will bring home P1,500.

Registration fee for the 10k is pegged at  P300 while P250 is set for the 5k and 3k categories.

Registration sites are at the RUNNR Ayala Center Cebu, Nike, Plane Sports Ayala and Du Ek Sam branches. Deadline of registration will be on Dec. 2. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
