THE SPIKERS of Sta. Fe and the belles of Catmon reigned supreme over the weekend as they captured the titles in the men and women’s divisions, respectively, in Cluster V of the ongoing Governor Gwen Garcia Unity Volleyball Cup over at the San Remegio Sports Complex.
Sta. Fe was too overwhelming for the rst of the field as they went through four matches without suffering a single loss. San Remegio was the first to taste the thunder, 5-25, 18-25, and was followed by Bogo City, 9-25, 14-25. Sta. Fe finished off Bantayan, 25-15, 25-15 before capping off their weekend by outlasting Sogod in a three-set thriller, 25-16, 19-25, 25-20.
Sta. Fe was actually a double-winner as their elementary squad won the crown with three victories. They defeated Tabogon, 25-17, 25-20; Madridejos; 25-8, 25-9 and also Bogo, 25-14, 24-26, 25-22.
Catmon was also spotless in Cluster V as they won all five of their matches. They bounced the hosts, 25-8, 25-5; Sta. Fe, 25-20, 25-8; Bogo, 25-12, 25-12; Bantayan, 25-15, 25-11 and got past Madridejos, 25-6, 25-7. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
