Gun-for-hire suspect killed in Bulacan police checkpoint

CAMP GEN. ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan – An armed man gun was killed when he allegedly engaged policemen in a gunfight at a checkpoint in the city of San Jose Del Monte on Wednesday night.

Baltazar Conrado Jr. was with an unidentified companion on a motorcycle when they refused to heed the police checkpoint along Halili Road in Barangay (village) Muzon at about 11:30 p.m.

Conrado fired at the police officers who retaliated, killing him. His companion managed to flee during the firefight.

Seized from the slain man was a caliber .38 revolver, a bag containing 11 sachets of what police suspect to be shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride). Conrado was identified through his driver’s license.

Supt. Fitz Macariola, San Jose Del Monte chief of police, said Conrado had a criminal record and was tied to robberies, drug trafficking and murder.
