Comelec: Voter registration to continue this week

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) reminded the public that voter registration would not be affected by the long holiday as the country hosts the 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations Leaders’ Summit this week.

“[This] weeklong ‘holiday,’ #TuloyAngTrabaho sa @COMELEC. #VoterReg2017,” Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez posted on Twitter (@jabjimenez) on Sunday.

“We are urging millennials in Metro Manila and in the nearby provinces to make use of the long holiday break to register,” he said in an earlier reminder.

All Comelec offices will be open from Mondays to Saturdays, including holidays, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., to receive and process applications for voter registration.

The poll body will also be conducting off-site/satellite registration in different parts of the country.

Earlier, the Comelec resumed voter registration nationwide, except in Lanao del Sur, in connection with the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections to be held on May 14 next year. Registration will run until Nov. 30.
