Unlucky trader had only two lives, dies after third attack

CEBU CITY—They finally got him on the third try.

Kenneth Teo, a businessman who briefly survived an attempt on his life earlier this week, died on Thursday. Cebu City police are now hunting a suspect, and have released a sketch to help in the pursuit.

Teo died more than six hours after he was shot by a gunman in his water refilling station here on Tuesday.

There had been two previous assassination tries against Teo, but he cheated death both times last year. Police, however, had failed to pinpoint the people behind the attempts, nor if these were actually related to each other.

Teo had been fighting for his life after the third attempt, though the police quoted his wife as saying he was in stable condition shortly after he was rushed to the Cebu Doctors University Hospital following the attack.

Police also quoted Teo’s brother as saying the businessman had been hit thrice, not twice as earlier reported, and suffered a bullet wound in the neck and two in the stomach.

Police described the gunman as about 40 years old, between 5’6” to 5’7” tall, and of medium build.

After gunning Teo down, police quoted witnesses as saying the assasin, who wore sunglasses and a brown jacket, fled on board a motorcycle.

Police said they were looking at the possibility of a grudge as the motive for the murder, and for the previous attempts on Teo’s life.
