LUCENA CITY—A road construction worker and a motorcycle rider died in two separate accidents in Quezon province on Saturday and Friday, police reported.
Report from Quezon police office said a P&O passenger bus being driven by Aldrin Saltarin accidentally bumped the “flagman” manning a road construction project.
The victim was identified as Herminio Pinili, 50, who was giving signals to passing motorists when the incident happened along the Maharlika Highway in Barangay (village), Binahaan in Pagbilao town around 12:05 a.m.
Pinili sustained serious body injuries and died while being taken to Jane County Hospital.
Investigations showed that the bus driver did not notice the “Slow Down” signage placed by the Department of Public Works and Highways along the construction area.
In Sariaya town, motorcycle rider Rolando Virtucio Jr., 37, was also declared dead on arrival in a hospital in Lucena City after his vehicle collided with an incoming Toyota Vios traveling along eco-tourism road in Barangay Talaan around 6 p.m. Friday.
