These thieves in Australia apparently were stricken with guilt feelings when they returned a puppy to its rightful owner.
ABC Online reports that a family in Melbourne discovered that their puppy Sasha was missing after their home was ransacked by thieves on Monday. The owner, Elena Sardi, believed that the burglary was done while she was dropping off her daughter at school.
Sardi said that her daughter Maia and Sasha have been inseparable, despite having the puppy for only a week.
“[Maia’s] an only child and the only addition to the family would be a pet and we picked the dog, we picked Sasha and Sasha picked us,” Sardi said in the report.

Among those stolen aside from the puppy were a laptop, an iPad and several pieces of jewelry.
But on Thursday, the family was overjoyed when Sasha returned mysteriously in their backyard unharmed.
Sardi’s husband, Ryan Hood said his wife was making coffee when she saw a figure moving by their kennel and figured that it was their puppy.
“We think that whoever took her has either had a conscience or got scared and has dropped her over the fence,” Hood said.
Local police shared this photo of Maia reunited with Sasha.

It is unclear whether police have a lead as to who was responsible for the burglary as of this writimg. “I guess it’s probably … an isolated incident, where they’ve just committed a burglary and they’ve seen the dog and they’ve taken the dog,” Sr. Cons. Adam Leggo commented about the case. Katrina Hallare /ra
