All tropical cyclone signals were lifted on Friday as Tropical Storm “Salome” (international name Haikui) crosses the West Philippine Sea.
But landslides and flashfloods are possible over Central Luzon, Ilocos region, Cordillera and Cagayan Valley, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
Salome was last spotted 175 kilometers west of Subic, Olongapo. It packed maximum sustained winds of 165 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 80 kph.
It moved west northwest at 20 kph.
However, sea travel is still dangerous over the western seaboard of Northern and Central Luzon due to very rough seas.
Salome is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility on Saturday morning. /jpv
