4 dead in Batangas road crash

BATANGAS CITY—Four people, including a policeman, died while eight others were hurt after a truck hit two tricycles in Tanauan City in Batangas province on Thursday, police said.

Supt. Renato Mercado, Tanauan police chief, said driver Richard Lozano lost control of his 10-wheel truck and smashed into a tricycle along Natatas Road at 7:30 a.m. Killed were tricycle passengers Raymond Llenado, SPO3 Marqueses Valentino, Marvel Itoralde and Nanette Aton. Their two companions were hurt.

Mercado said six others were injured after the truck hit another tricycle. —MARRAH ERIKA RABE
