DID YOU KNOW: Deaf Awareness Week

Deaf Awareness Week is observed from Nov. 10 to 16 by virtue of Proclamation No. 829 signed on Nov. 8, 1991 by then President Corazon Aquino. The proclamation cited a need to focus public awareness on deafness prevention and rehabilitation. The observance is under the auspices of the Philippine Institute for the Deaf and the Philippine School for the Deaf. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
