A man stabbed his lover’s live-in partner on Sunday evening in Pasay after the woman refused to elope with him.

Police identified the suspect as 40-year-old Ricky Pedrera, who was reportedly accompanied by a 17-year-old boy when he stabbed Mario Barillo, who was also 40 years old.

Both Pedrera and his companion are still at-large as of this posting.

Citing the statements of a witness, P03 Alberto Barangas, case investigator, related some details of the incident.

The police officer said Pedrera and the teenager went to the house of Maribel Lobon, 35-year-old live-in partner of Barillo, in Barangay 183 at around 7 p.m.

Pedrera tried to convince Lobon, with whom he had a secret affair, to elope with him to his place in the Tramo Street area, also in Pasay.

But the woman chose to stay with Barillo, who happened to be present at the time.

The two men had a heated argument.

After awhile, Pedrera decided to leave – only to return an hour later, still accompanied by the teenager.

He then challenged Barillo to a fistfight: Whoever should win would get to stay with Lobon.

The men had another argument, trading insults for about a half hour, until around 9 p.m.

Suddenly, Pedrera pulled a knife from his waist and tried to attack Barillo but was pacified by neighbors.

To avoid further confrontation, Barillo tried to run away.

But Pedrera and his teen companion chased him. They caught up with Barillo a few meters away from the house.

Pedrera stabbed his rival once in the chest before fleeing with his companion.
