5 killed in Agusan house fire
SAN FRANCISCO, Agusan del Sur – An entire family of five members was killed in a fire that razed their house before midnight on Monday.
Neighbors said Kim Abelita, 42, initially managed to get out of their house but had to go back to rescue his wife and three children. He ended up dead along with members of his family as the blaze spread quickly, destroying their semi-concrete abode.
Aside from Kim, the other fatalities were Marivic, and children Lynde, 10; Maveric, 6; and Rianna, 3.
Senior Fire Officer (SFO) 2 Allan Salvaña said the fire had already consumed 90 percent of the house when they started to put off the blaze.
The local fire investigator also said that based on their initial investigation, the cause of fire could have stemmed from faulty electrical wirings as neighbors noticed flickering of lights at the living room which had been left unattended for several days. /kga
