The Bureau of Immigration (BI) is preparing to deport a 54-year-old Chinese national wanted in his country for economic crimes.
Lin Ayong, was arrested last November 2 by operatives of the BI-Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) following a mission order issued by Commissioner Jaime Morento that was prompted by a request from the Chinese embassy in Manila.
The Chinese government have also previously cancelled the suspect’s passport, making him an undocumented alien in the Philippines.
“He will be deported for being an undocumented alien and for being undesirable due to his criminal record for which he is deemed a threat to public safety and security,” the BI chief said.
BI acting spokesman Grifton Medina said Lin is now detained at the BI detention facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City pending issuance by the bureau’s board of commissioners of the order for his summary deportation.
“He (Lin) will then be placed in our immigration blacklist and banned from re-entering the Philippines,” Medina added.
Immigration records showed that Lin arrived in the country as a tourist in June last year.
BI Intelligence officer and BI-FSU Chief Bobby Raquepo said Lin is the subject of a detention warrant issued by the public security bureau of Jinjiang City in Fujian, China last March 1. /kga
