MANILA, Philippines—A still unidentified suspect shot dead a 50-year-old man inside a Lucena City-bound bus in San Pablo City Monday, Superintendent Fernando de Castro, city police chief said on Tuesday.

He said that Romeo Nadal, a resident of Tiaong, Quezon, was on board a Dela Rosa Transit bus (TYU-856) along the Maharlika Highway in San Vicente village when another passenger shot him in the head before escaping at around 5 p.m.

“May pumara dun sa bus sa may highway kaya pumarada, dun na binaril yung victim (Someone stopped the bus in the highway where the victim was shot),” said De Castro in a phone interview. He said the gunshot caused panic inside the bus and the suspect may have used it as a way to escape.
