Tropical cyclone “Ramil” (international name: Damrey) has left but Luzon would continue to experience rains because of a northeast monsoon, according to the state weather bureau.
In a bulletin issued 4 p.m. on Saturday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) warned of possible flash floods and landslides in the regions of Cagayan Valley, Cordillera and Bicol.
Flood and landslide warnings were also issued for the provinces of Aurora, Quezon, Nueva Ecija and Bulacan.
Aldczar Aurelio, Pagasa weather specialist, said sea travel is not advisable in the northern Luzon area as a gale warning remained hoisted over the region as of 5 p.m. on Saturday. Wave height was expected to reach 4.5 meters in this area.
Scattered rains were projected in Metro Manila, Ilocos and the rest of Central Luzon also due to the northeast monsoon. The weather bureau, however, said it sees “no significant impact” from the light rains.
The rest of the country would experience isolated rain showers brought by localized thunderstorms. Good weather was projected for the Visayas and Mindanao in the next 24 hours, according to Aurelio. —JAYMEE T. GAMIL
