Police arrested a man from Zana, Kanagawa, Japan after it was found that he is in possession of nine headless bodies in his apartment.
According to a report from Japan Today, 27-year-old Takairo Shiraishi was initially a suspect in the disappearance of a 23-year-old woman from Tokyo, whom he met through a website for people who feel suicidal. He admitted to killing the woman after they first met.
The victim’s brother had called the police on Oct. 24, three days after she left. Police found footage of Shiraishi walking the woman to a train station near her home on Oct. 23.
Sources said her brother also found that she had been in touch with the suspect through messages on Twitter. As cited by the report, one of the woman’s Twitter posts, dated Sept. 20, stated that she is “looking for someone to die with me.”
Upon reaching Shiraishi’s place for inspection, police discovered the dismembered bodies of eight women and one man, kept in cool-storage containers and tool boxes.
Also found in the scene of the crime was a saw. Shiraishi admitted that this was used to dismember the bodies in the bath, then throwing away the remaining parts in the garbage.
Neighbors of Shiraishi were shocked by the findings, saying that they did not expect such acts from a “cheerful, kind and polite man,” as he was described by one neighbor. Nevertheless, some people did notice a foul stench coming from Shiraishi’s home back in August.
Police will file charges against Shiraishi in relation to the killings. Katrina Hallare/JB
