Despite fewer forces from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) this year, Chair Danilo Lim lauded the peaceful situation at the Manila North Cemetery on Tuesday, a day before All Saints’ Day.
“Alam naman ninyo marami tayong commitment din sa MMDA ngayon, pinaghahandaan natin ‘yung Asean. Mga 60 percent ng pwersa natin ngayon nakatutok dun,” Lim told reporters in the midst of inspecting the cemetery.
(You know that we have a lot of commitments in the MMDA now since we are preparing for the Asean summit. Around 60 percent of our forces are aiming their attention there.)
“So this time hindi natin naitodo ang pagtulong pero maayos naman ang lagay dito,” he added.
(So this time we aren’t full force with helping out but the situation here is orderly.)
The MMDA chair also expressed confidence that next year’s security and assistance for All Saints’ Day would be better.
“Definitely I’m sure next year mas maganda pa,” he added.
While inspecting the cemetery, Lim also paid his respects to former Philippine Presidents laid at the cemetery such as Sergio Osmeña and Ramon Magsaysay. /je
