A low pressure area (LPA) will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over parts of the country, the state weather bureau said on Tuesday.

While the LPA is not expected to intensify into a tropical depression within the day, the rainy weather is expected over Visayas and the regions of Mimaropa, Bicol, Caraga, Davao, Northern Mindanao, and the rest of Calabarzon, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

The LPA was last spotted 125 kilometers east of Surigao City.

Meanwhile, Pagasa said that a tail-end of a cold front is anticipated to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms in Aurora, Quirino, and Quezon.

Cloudy skies with light to moderate rains are expected over Metro Manila, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Cordillera and the rest of Cagayan Valley due to the northeast monsoon.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains are likewise projected over Ilocos region and the rest of Central Luzon.

Pagasa said the rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with possible isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.     /kga
