Body of missing inmate dug up at NBP maximum security compound

MANILA, Philippines – The body of an inmate who has been missing from his cell at the maximum security detention facility of the National Bilibid Prison was dug up Thursday, according to the Department of Justice.

DoJ information chief Alex Lactao identified the prisoner as Brian Pena whose body was found also inside the maximum security compound.

Justice Secretary Leila de Lima ordered the National Bureau of Investigation to look into the incident.

The circumstances surrounding Pena’s disappearance and death are not clear as of posting time.
