Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa has placed all regional police offices on full alert as the country observes All Souls and All Saints’ Day.
“Sa regions, full alert status sila. Kanya-kanyang regional directors declaring full alert status,” Dela Rosa said during the weekly flag-raising ceremony at Camp Crame on Monday.
The PNP has a strength of 160,000 personnel.
Dela Rosa also put the PNP’s headquarters on heightened alert, meaning at least 50 percent of personnel in Camp Crame should be ready for deployment.
The police chief was set to make the rounds of bus terminals in Metro Manila on Monday to inspect security arrangements in the transport hubs.
He reminded off-duty policemen who will visit their dead in cemeteries to stay alert.
“‘Wag niyo kalimutan na kayo ay pulis, 24/7 ‘yang pagka-pulis natin. If your services are being needed, kung nasaan kayo sa Undas, then you have to act accordingly,” Dela Rosa said.
Off-duty policemen and women who will go on vacation for Undas were also told to secure their homes while they are away.
“Parati tayo nagbibigay ng public advisory on how to secure your residences kapag nasa labas at nag-celebrate ng Undas. [Kung] ‘yung bahay n’yo mismo na ransack, nakakahiya,” Dela Rosa said. /cbb
