Lockdown routes during Asean summit announced

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) announced on Sunday the designated lockdown routes in Metro Manila during the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Summit on Nov. 8 to 15.

“On days with a full lockdown schedule, only pedestrians and vehicles with Asean IDs and decals will be allowed to pass [through these routes] while the general public will be denied access,” Catalino Cuy, DILG officer in charge, said in a statement.

During the partial lockdown period, pedestrians and vehicles without Asean IDs and decals will be allowed to use the routes concerned, but only through the vehicle and pedestrian security areas, he added.

Cuy is also the concurrent chair of the Asean Committee on Security, Peace and Order, Emergency Preparedness and Response.

The country is hosting the 31st Asean Summit and related meetings in November with 21 leaders from various nations expected to attend. /je /pdi
