Manila issues traffic plan, rerouting schemes during All Saints’ Day

People visiting their departed loved ones in different cemeteries in Manila for the All Saints’ Day holiday are advised to plan their routes to avoid being inconvenience by closed roads and rerouting schemes, the Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit (MDTEU) said Saturday.

In its Oplan Kaluluwa 2017 traffic advisory, the MDTEU bared a list of road closures and traffic rerouting schemes in the perimeters of Manila’s major cemeteries—the Manila North Cemetery, La Loma Cemetery, and Chinese Cemetery—in line with the observance of the All Saints’ Day on Wednesday.

MDTEU said that at 12 midnight of October 31, the gates of all cemeteries would be closed to private vehicles.

Authorities advised the public to be guided accordingly with the traffic scheme to avoid inconvenience.

Road closures around Manila North Cemetery would be from 12:00 a.m. on November 1 to 5:00 a.m. on November 2, which include:

  • Aurora Boulevard from Dimasalang to Rizal Avenue
  • Dimasalang from Makiling to Blumentritt
  • Guevarra from Cavite to Pampanga Streets
  • Blumentritt from A. Bonifacio to P. Guevarra
  • Retiro from Dimasalang to Blumentritt Extension
  • Leonor Rivera from Cavite to Aurora Boulevard

Parking areas are available at Craig, Simon, F. Huertas, Sulu, Oroquieta, and Metrica Streets.

For public utility jeeps bound for Manila North Cemetery coming from Rizal Ave./Blumentritt shall take Cavite right L. Rivera or Isagani right Antipolo Street. Those coming from Amoranto Street in Quezon City, turn right in Calavite and right in Bonifacio to point of destination.

Those coming from Dimasalang must turn right to Makiling, then right to Maceda, straight ahead to Ma. Clara or España to point of destination.

For PUJs bound for La Loma and Chinese Cemeteries, all vehicles coming from España shall take AH Lacson, Tayuman, Blumentritt from Cavite to Aurora Blvd. and take either Rizal Avenue or Jose Abad Santos.

All vehicles coming from Quiapo, Sta. Cruz, Tondo, Caloocan shall take Jose Abad Santos or Rizal Avenue Extension.

Parking areas are available at Oroquieta, Bulacan, M. Hizon, F. Huertas, Tecson, Kalimbas, P. Guevarra, Sulu, and Natividad Streets. /jpv
